Honey, a natural source of sweetness which makes our lives more interesting. Not only does it satisfies our sweet tooth but it also provides a lot of health benefits. It’s never advisable to have infants ingest honey though because it can some medical problems such as botulism. However, for adults and older kids, honey is a good source of nutrients which can fight off various illnesses.

Here are the top benefits of honey: 

Help boost energy levels. Honey is a good source of carbohydrates which can provide energy. This unprocessed and natural sugar can quickly give a boost of energy especially if you’re up to doing physical activities all day. 

A natural cough remedy. Honey is a natural remedy for a coughs and colds. If you have a pesky cough that you’re trying to get rid of, two teaspoons of honey would do the trick. Honey is also believed to be as effective as cough suppressants. Because of its rich consistency, it coats and soothes irritated membranes. 

A natural antibiotic. Honey has antibacterial properties which can act if taken internally or applied externally. It’s a natural antibiotic that can treat wounds and burns by disinfecting it from bacteria. The reason for why it could battle bacteria and microbes is because it produces hydrogen peroxide but for another type of honey (manuka honey), it’s due to is low pH level. If you want a natural topical treatment, keep a jar of honey at home.
